Energy Healing with Reflexology

REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is a non-invasive energy treatment that involves applying different amounts of pressure to the feet, hands, and/or ears. The pressure applied stimulates and connects the natural energy pathways that run through the body that correspond to all the major organs and systems in the body. Isn’t that fascinating?! That everything is connected, and you can “touch” on the pathways to open them up. Reflexology can help with so many ailments. For example:

· Reduce stress and anxiety

· Reduce pain (of all sorts)

· Improve general wellness

· Boost immune system

· Helps to relieve colds and bacterial infections

· Clear up sinus issues and some allergies

· Recover from back problems

· Correct hormonal imbalances

· Boost fertility

· Improve digestion

· Ease arthritis pain

· Treat nerve problems (example: peripheral neuropathy)

AND SO MUCH MORE.

BRIEF HISTORY OF REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is an ancient practice that is difficult to track. There is possibly the first recording found on pictographs on an Egyptian tomb from 2330 BC. There are reflexology symbols recorded on the feet of statues of Buddha in India and later in China.

More recently, in 1917, William H. Fitzgerald, MD, who is referred to as the father of reflexology, re-ignited the ancient application, demonstrating the application of pressure to certain zones could relieve pain during minor surgeries.

Dr. Shelby Riley expanded on Dr. Fitzgerald’s work by developing a detailed vertical map of reflex points on the feet, and hands and suggested points on the outer ear.

Eunice Ingham, a Physiotherapist who worked with Dr. Riley, expanded even further, and developed the maps and charts that are still in use today. She is said to have introduced reflexology practices to the non-medical community in the 1930’s.

PRACTICING REFLEXOLOGY

Anyone can do reflexology. It is a matter of knowing the area’s best for what ails you.

Say you have a sinus problem…. The best place to apply pressure would be the top of your toes. On your hand you can apply pressure to the top of the fingers. Press and hold for 10-30 seconds. Pressure that is not painful, meaning don’t press so hard you cut off circulation. Press firmly enough to feel it and release.

As I said above, “anyone” can do reflexology, and I believe that for minor issues. I even created a simple DIY reflexology course to help you with the basics for your own self-care. Check out the intro if you are interested in learning. Or check out my YouTube for some pressure point ideas.

If you are looking to receive a treatment local to where you are, it is important to find an educated practitioner. Practitioners should look at your medical history, what you are experiencing currently, and if you are taking certain medications, and more. Every Country is different on finding a practitioner, as well as every State in the United States has different laws as well.

Your body is amazing. I believe we all have an opportunity to help our body, in a natural holistic way, heal itself, or at least help it along the way.

Good luck! Love, light, and healing!
