Being Human

What does it mean to be human?
That feels like a loaded question because really, there are so many possibilities for the answer. However, I want to examine the energy and the story of being human.
It is my belief that we are so much more than what is perceived with our physical eyes. We are interconnected. Our light is contained in this vessel, the body, for a reason and an experience.
We are a species who are constantly in search of more. For some it may be more of the tangible: car, house, experiences…. And there is nothing wrong with that. I’m here for it.
For some it may also be an understanding of who and what we are in the bigger playbook of our story. An awakening. Enlightenment. Connection. I'm here for that too.
There are times we may spend so much time looking elsewhere for all the things, the ladder to climb or the beyond, that we forget to look at where we are right now.
Our human earth story is here for a reason. We chose this experience for a reason. We may not understand it now, and we may think “I would never have chosen this trauma, abuse, loss, pain, grief, illness, etc.” Yet, it has been said that we did choose it. I have battled this concept for a long time myself… but hear me out. I believe there is something to be learned from all of it: The lessons.
Maybe for you the lesson is how to survive, and that could lead you to help others survive.
Maybe it’s that you had so little love growing up, or don’t know how to love, that you have been on a quest to show others how important they are, how special.
Maybe you have been diagnosed with something, and you are showing others how to move through it and live life to the fullest no matter what.
I honestly believe that even when you are in the deepest of holes, there is always a small something that can be done. Movement. Thought. Shift. Anything. I’m not going to tell you it’s easy. Hell no. Some holes are fricken deep. But choose you in the motion, the moment, the belief.
So, I ask these questions, and email me back, I’m truly curious:
1. What do you think your earth lesson is?
2. Do you feel there is something you are supposed to do, be, learn?
3. If you don’t like where you are, or where you are going, how can you change it, the path, the direction?
We always have a choice, here in the now, to bring about the life you want to live. Even when you don’t think you have a choice, that’s a choice in your way of thinking.

This life is short. You don’t know how many tomorrows you have. So, I invite you to find something joyful and grateful in this day. In every day. And as you do that, I truly believe the lessons get easier or you can at least move through them with more ease.
Maybe it’s those moments of choosing how you experience a situation and then being of service to others to make the world a better place, is actually the lesson in what it is to be human.
