Positive Mindset Tips for a Balanced Life

Updated: Feb 24

Hey there! Let's chat about the need to control. Have you ever felt that? Like life is pushing you around and you feel more out of control? Or the need to control certain situations and they feel more out of your control? I totally get it.

Sometimes, the best thing we can do is to take a step back and allow things to flow naturally. And if that word “allow” scares you also… keep reading.

Today, I’m excited to share with you some friendly insights on what I mean by "allowing" and how this in turn can help with that other C word, control. I truly believe it's a form of art. A dance. Movement. Let's dive in.

What Is the Art of Allowing?

Imagine a river flowing effortlessly around rocks and bends. It doesn’t fight the obstacles; it simply moves with grace, flowing, allowing. That’s the essence of this artform. It’s about letting go of resistance and welcoming life’s experiences with open arms. And that can totally be scary too, I hear that.

This principle encourages us to stop pushing against what is and instead, allow things to unfold naturally. It’s not about giving up or giving in. It's not about being passive. Nope! It’s about trusting the process and your own inner wisdom, your intuition.

When you practice this, you create space for healing, growth, and happiness. You stop draining your energy on things you can’t control and start focusing on what truly matters.

Positive Mindset Tips to Embrace Allowing

Okay, here’s where the magic happens! Practicing the art of allowing is a journey, not a one and done event. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

Step 1: Notice Your Resistance

Awareness is key. When you feel tense, frustrated, or anxious, pause and ask yourself, “What am I resisting right now?” Naming it is the first step to releasing it.

Step 2: Breathe Into the Feeling

Instead of pushing a feeling away, breathe into it. Imagine your breath softening the tension. This creates space for acceptance. Practicing breathwork regularly is as simple as breathing in and out and feeling the release.

Step 3: Shift Your Focus

When you feel something isn't going your way, or you are tense, redirect your attention to something positive or neutral. It could be the warmth of the sun, the sound of birds, or a favorite hobby. It could be singing a song and belting it out loud to get out of your head. Shift.

Step 4: Trust the Process

Remind yourself that life is unfolding for you, even if it doesn’t look like it right now. Trust that you are exactly where you need to be. I know this can be a tough one but understand there may be a bigger picture unfolding, recognize and trust.

Step 5: Take Inspired Action

Allowing doesn’t mean doing nothing. When you feel inspired, take the steps forward. The key is to act without force or fear.

Remember, this is a practice. Be kind to yourself as you learn to go with the flow of your own river.
